Okay so Tuesday I’m in this meeting and this guy is literally mansplaining my own idea back to me. Like I just said it five minutes ago and he’s rephrasing it like it’s his and I’m sitting there smiling because I’m so tired I can’t even call him out. I’m holding in so much I’m getting a headache from it. That night I’m driving home and ‘OUCHIE’ comes on and I had to pull over because – this is it. This is exactly what that feels like. Willoh is 19, makes everything in her bedroom in Missouri, and she just bottled that exact moment when you finally can’t hold it in anymore.
So listen, Willoh’s been making waves. Her debut earlier this year was raw as hell and then ‘Buckshot’ came out last month and everyone lost their minds. But this one? This is different. This is more aggressive, more in your face. Her vocals are doing this thing where they stack on each other – like you know when your brain won’t shut up and you have too many thoughts happening at once? That’s what this sounds like. And the beat never settles, like you think you’ve got the rhythm and then it switches and you’re off balance again. That’s literally the point – you’re supposed to feel unstable.
The song opens with I know it right now / Do I know it too soon? and she’s already second-guessing herself. Then We’re tired and rude / How desperate are you? comes in and I’m like – yeah, when you’re that exhausted everything comes out mean because you literally don’t have the energy to be polite anymore. I’ve been waiting all night / Know you do too / It’s no fair / So sad, so sad, I swear. The way she repeats “so sad” – that’s not her being poetic, that’s literally how your brain sounds when you’re spiraling. Same thought on loop because you’re too drained for anything else.
Then she hits you with I don’t wanna fight it / But I don’t wanna lose / I don’t wanna try it / Falling back on you. Like this is it right here. She’s too tired to keep defending yourself but too stubborn to just quit. And then I don’t wanna fire / I’m tired, I really want to light it / I know, I swear, I always do / Fire, I’ll tend to you. Wait, she’s saying she’s too exhausted to start the fight but she’s been feeding this fire the whole time? That’s so real. Like admitting you’ve been making yourself miserable and you know it.

I don’t wanna fight it / I don’t wanna fight repeats and she’s just given up at this point. Then back to I’ve been waiting all night / Know you do too / It’s no fair, so sad, so sad, I swear and the repetition makes you feel how stuck she is in this feeling. Like you can’t move past it when you’re this exhausted.
Okay but then this section comes in – Oh, a little fire gonna set me alive / And a little life gonna set me right / I’m so dumb huh and I feel so young / Aren’t you tired of it all? She needs the destruction to feel anything at this point. Which honestly when you’re that numb from exhaustion, sometimes chaos is the only thing that makes you feel real. And asking “Aren’t you tired of it all?” – yeah we fucking are. We’re all tired of it.
Then Hardly hate went in your eyes / My hydrangea died, it’s no fair. Wait this line absolutely wrecked me. Like who mentions dead plants in a breakdown song? Someone who’s noticing all the small deaths happening around them while they’re trying to survive the big one. That detail makes everything more real. Deafen, get your profit and sit, don’t stare / My high went and died, I won’t share / You do it too, fire, I’ll tend to you. She’s talking to someone but also talking to herself like that internal debate you have when you’re so tired you’re literally arguing with yourself.
I don’t wanna fight it / I don’t wanna fight / I’ve been waiting all night / Know you do too / It’s no fair, so sad, so sad, I swear. The repetition here isn’t lazy writing – this is showing how your brain gets stuck when you’re this exhausted. You can’t think past the same thought.
Then the whole thing shifts in the third act, and this is where Willoh really goes off. The production gets more unsettling here, more predatory feeling. And then she delivers You’ll keep running, you like to be afraid / We love money and we love what we take home / I’m so sorry, no need feeling ashamed / We hate you and your friends and their payroll.

Wait hold on – she’s not even singing as herself anymore. She’s speaking as the thing that’s been chasing her this entire time. Like that horror movie moment where the villain stops pretending and just admits what they are. That perspective flip is fucking brilliant. And then she repeats the whole thing – You’ll keep running, you like to be afraid / We love money and we love what we take home / I’m so sorry, no need feeling ashamed / We hate you and your friends and their payroll. The repetition drives it home. This isn’t rage anymore, this is just accepting how fucked everything actually is once you stop pretending it’s fine.
Willoh says the song is about holding everything in until you hit that breaking point where you physically cannot anymore. “It’s the sound of that explosion,” she explains. And she’s not exaggerating. Like this track doesn’t build to some nice satisfying emotional release – it builds to complete system failure. The ending legitimately shocked me. It makes you question if anything you just heard was real or if you’ve been trapped inside Willoh’s breakdown with her this entire time.
What I love is she doesn’t try to make exhaustion pretty. She’s not giving you the soft vulnerable version where being tired looks cute. This is ugly tired. The kind where you’re too drained to even be nice about how you feel. The production matches that energy – nothing here is trying to be accessible or easy. You can’t put this on in the background and ignore it. It grabs your attention and doesn’t fucking let go.
This is what happens when a 19-year-old with bedroom production software decides to map her nervous breakdown onto a track. It’s intimate in this almost invasive way – like you’re hearing something you weren’t supposed to witness. You need multiple listens to get everything she’s doing. First time you’re just trying to survive it. Second time you start catching the patterns. Third time you realize the patterns were fake and she’s been playing you the entire time.
You’re not throwing this on at a party. This is for the drive home alone when everything went to shit. This is for 3am when you finally stop performing okay and just exist in the mess. Willoh made something that sounds exactly like what holding it together until you can’t looks like, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since I first heard it.
