On my third date with Brian – a finance guy from Queens – I took him to a basement club on Avenue A because he kept claiming he loved house music. Forty minutes after we arrived, he was planted at the bar checking the Knicks score while I was three feet away having the night he promised me. After watching this bullshit for two songs, a woman in a red vinyl dress walked over and said, “Leave him there. Come dance with us.” I followed her, and twenty minutes later Brian texted, “I guess you found better company. I’m going home.” By then, I had joined her crew and planned to stay until the lights came up. Stanley Redex and Amanda Lepore build Follow Me around that rule, capturing the moment somebody offers you something hotter than the man you arrived with and he can get the fuck over it.
The production on Follow Me channels Redex’s Tech House instincts toward a clear goal: control the dancefloor from the opening beat. The groove keeps pressing ahead and holds the crowd inside its momentum. Your hips make the decision faster than your brain can object. Lepore adds personality to that pressure, letting her attitude take over the rhythm. I love a record that tells me where to go with the kind of confidence that shuts down the argument in my head, because taking orders from this pair feels fucking hot.

Once everyone is locked in, whoever is behind the decks calls the shots. Your phone belongs in your purse, and your friends can get the recap tomorrow because the person in charge has other plans for you. The power dynamic is delicious: somebody leads and everybody else gives in. That shit works because a packed club runs on trust. You surrender an hour and let the DJ decide how hard to push you. Redex makes the choice feel so good that reconsidering it becomes someone else’s problem.
Amanda Lepore raises the temperature the second the track starts. For years, New York nightlife has treated her as an icon and a beautiful provocation, someone whose outfit could matter as much as who would take it off by sunrise. Redex knows when to let a legend dominate the room, and that restraint is sexy. By the time she is done, I can practically feel my dress riding higher while the last useful thought leaves my head. Under her sexual authority, losing control sounds perfectly reasonable.

Born Stan Rademakers in 2005, Stanley Redex is the rare reminder that some men use their early twenties for more than dodging commitment and buying terrible sheets. While studying at the Herman Brood Academy, he has been building his own material and collecting the kind of bookings that force a young artist to mature quickly. His 2023 win in the DJ category at the Kunstbende Young Creators Festival put him on a path the event had opened for Martin Garrix back in 2011. Solar Festival and Parkcity Live added larger stages, while 90’s Forever led into a live appearance on SLAM! FM. Amsterdam added Chicago Social Club and Escape. His summer 2025 Ibiza run brought appearances on Ibiza Global Radio and Ibiza Sonica Radio, with Es Paradis giving the trip its stage payoff. His new Sony Music single with Amanda Lepore is a serious fucking flex, and he has the swagger to pull it off.
Brian opened with a lecture the next morning, which was rich coming from a man who used our date to romance a basketball score. I told him the woman in red vinyl had saved me from wasting another hour with his boring ass, then deleted his number halfway through his second paragraph. She had understood the choice from the start: the person worth following notices when you are wasting your Saturday. A week later, she invited me out again and we kept going until breakfast.
