I hooked up with someone last month who kept texting me paragraphs about how intimidating I was. Like, full essays. Eventually I just stopped responding. If he’s that scared of me we’re not going to have fun, you know? I wasn’t even trying to intimidate him. I was just… existing. Being myself. And that’s apparently threatening to some people. siXren’s new track ‘NUMBER ONE’ gets that whole dynamic so fucking well. It’s for every girl who’s ever been called “too much” or “mean” just for knowing what she wants and not pretending otherwise.
This is dance-rap soaked in control. siXren (Agnes Momirski when she’s not commanding your complete attention) delivers every line with this taunting, teasing voice that’s pure hot girl energy. She’s an interdisciplinary artist whose whole universe links together visuals, garments, and sonics, and you can hear that femme futurism in every bar. The production rides on beats that pulse and throb, steam fog and strobe lights. When she opens with “What I’m about, you feeling it / Make it on top then I get a kick out of it / Pick it up and I never quit,” you know exactly who’s running this show.

Listen, the track breathes this bratty dominatrix aesthetic from start to finish. There’s swagger in how she moves through the verses—walking in McQueen, making films, creating scenes. “Uuuuu see me walk in McQueen / Run that up cuz we making a film now / On top get me more of the steam fog,” she purrs, and you can practically see her commanding the space. Then she goes even harder: “You can call me mean, I really don’t mind it / You can suck on a D, Do what u want u can’t fight it / Deep down underneath, got nothing on but my tight fit.” I mean, damn. The audacity. She’s serving sexuality and power in equal measure, knowing exactly what she’s doing to you.
What really gets me is how siXren owns being the villain in someone else’s story. “I don’t need to explain / Cuz you made me this way,” she says with zero apology. She’s flipping the script. If he’s going to call her mean she’ll show him exactly how mean she can be. “And I’m out for blood / And I want every drop / I don’t share no cut / Maximize what I got.” That’s the fucking energy right there.
The bridge takes it to a whole other level though. “I I like it like it / When you’re on your knees / I am your idol / And your heart on my leash / It’s so exciting.” She’s literally getting turned on by the control. The way she says “It’s so exciting” makes it clear—watching him submit, being worshipped, the whole dynamic gets her off. She’s so good at this that he wants to be on that leash. He wants to be the one worshipping her. She makes submission feel like winning, makes giving her control feel like it was his genius idea all along. That’s the mind fuck of it.

The way she repeats “Imma be your number one” becomes hypnotic, almost like she’s programming him to believe it. Which, let’s be real, anyone will already by the third listen. This track lives in that space between the club and your bedroom where you’re dancing close to someone, testing boundaries, seeing how far you can push. It’s for getting ready with your girls, shots lined up, feeling yourselves before you go out and wreck someone’s night. Or for that drive home when you’re still high on your own power. You know that feeling when you leave somewhere knowing you were the main character? Yeah, this is the soundtrack to that.
siXren’s sultry voice matches what she calls her “hybrid athletic femininity,” and you can feel that in every word. She’s flexible, strong, and calculated. The production gives her room to breathe, letting her vocals slide over the beat while she’s in complete control of the tempo. There’s space in the track, moments where it strips down before building back up, and she uses all of it. It’s confident as hell.
Stream ‘NUMBER ONE’ when you need a reminder that you’re the fucking prize.
