There’s this moment when you’re with someone who’s so good in bed that every decision you make with him is gambling with your sanity. He’s the type who knows exactly where to put his hands, exactly how much pressure, exactly when to pull your hair. A big dick will make you forget your middle name for a minute. Enjoy the amnesia, sweetheart. Sunday morning you’re swearing you’ll get your shit together, and by Sunday night you’re back in his bed letting him do things that would make your therapist rich. I’ve been that girl. The one playing sexual roulette with a man who fucks like it’s an Olympic sport and he’s going for gold. Scarlett Taylor gets it. She lived it in a Las Vegas hotel room and turned it into “Roulette,” and holy shit does this track ooze with that slutty, confident, “I know this is chaos but I’m here for it” energy.
The song exploded out of a 4am voice memo Scarlett recorded in a hotel hallway after a wild weekend with her lover. You can hear it in every beat. Adrenaline and temptation, that reckless sync when the sex is so good rational choices stop happening. She distilled that Vegas weekend into three minutes of dark pop. Foreplay, seeing god, dizzy aftermath.
Feed my dark desires, I wanna make you mine, burning in my fire, I wanna make you shine. Right out the gate, Scarlett’s laying it bare. This is about hunger. She wants to consume him and be consumed. The fire imagery here does work because it’s primal and physical and exactly how good sex feels when you’re in it. You’re burning up, he’s burning up, everything’s heat and sweat and the kind of friction that leaves marks.

Then she gets specific, and this is where the song starts dripping. So get up on the floor, grab my waist and feel my body, you wanna make me yours. We’re on the dance floor, which is basically vertical foreplay when you’re doing it right. His hands on her waist, bodies pressed together, feeling every move. Hot breath against my neck, the bass is pumping up so loudly, so tell me what you wanna do before we hit the hotel lobby. The fucking tension in these lines. Hot breath on the neck is a cheat code for arousal. The bass matching the pulse between your legs. She’s asking him what he wants to do before they even hit the lobby. Still in public already negotiating what’s about to happen upstairs. They both know they’re about to tear each other apart in that hotel room.
The production here is sleek and dangerous. Dark synths, a bassline that thumps like a heartbeat mid-fuck, percussion that feels like hips grinding. The sound design makes you move. Scarlett’s voice rides over it with confidence. She knows exactly what she does to him. Control and surrender happening at the same time.
Purple glitter on the floor, luminescent dripping pores, give me glitz and all the gore, can’t feel nothing anymore. This verse is a goddamn fever dream. The visual is Vegas excess meets sexual oblivion. Glitter everywhere, sweat glistening on skin, the glamorous messiness of a night that’s gone off the rails in the best way. Can’t feel nothing anymore because when the sex is that intense you go numb to everything else. The world disappears. There’s just bodies and sensation and the high of it.
Velvet dress is pulled up tight, just the way I know you like. She knows what he likes. She wore it on purpose. This is calculated seduction, easy access, playing into his fantasies while living out her own. Crucify me on the wall, I won’t live to see your fall. The religious imagery mixed with sexual surrender does something. She’s offering herself up completely, pinned against the wall, letting him take what he wants. The danger is part of the thrill. She knows this might destroy them both but in this moment she doesn’t give a fuck.
The chorus hits and it’s pure gambling metaphor turned sexual. Roulette, spin the chamber, roulette, pull the trigger, roulette, russian roulette. Every time they play in the sheets, they’re playing with fire. The risk is what makes it intoxicating. Will this be the time it goes too far? Will this be the night that ruins them? Doesn’t matter. They’re spinning the chamber anyway. The repetition mimics obsession, the way you keep going back even when you know you shouldn’t.
Take me out tonight, I wanna risk it all, Las Vegas in your eyes, I love to be your doll. She’s asking for it. Begging for it, really. She wants to risk everything for another night of this. Las Vegas in your eyes is perfect because Vegas is about excess and chance and losing yourself in the lights. She sees that same reckless energy in him. I love to be your doll could read submissive because we all want to bow down to a dark sex god, but there’s power in it. She’s choosing this role because it gets her off. I mean, wouldn’t you? If he’s got a big one and knows what he’s doing with it I’m listening. I’m hydrated. I’m stretching. By being his plaything she’s getting exactly what she wants by giving him what he wants.

Scarlett’s been chasing this sound since 2015. Started with “Lucid,” these sad-core ballads that were all poetry and heartbreak. Then “Heaven Punk” in 2018 after her long-term relationship imploded and her estranged mother tried crawling back into her life. Brooding doesn’t even cover it. Minneapolis venues like First Avenue and the Fine Line hosted her early shows before packed up for LA in 2018. Her influences? Evanescence was on constant rotation growing up. Amy Winehouse showed her what happens when you strip everything bare. Deftones brought the heavy, atmospheric shit. She absorbed all of it and made it hers.
Working with producer Disraeli Davis, who she met by chance at a goddamn Subway when she was still in high school, Scarlett’s developed a signature sound that’s sultry and dangerous. They discovered early on that dark pop complemented her voice perfectly. Years of choir and theater gave her range and strength. The attitude makes her lethal and she knows how to wield that voice accordingly.
“Roulette” is everything Scarlett’s been building toward. Sexy, dangerous, confident as fuck. She went to Vegas, fucked her brains out, came home and wrote this song. Rational thought doesn’t stand a chance against that kind of impulse. When you’re making questionable decisions because you’re too turned on to give a fuck? That’s where this song lives.
So yeah I’m still that girl playing sexual roulette with men who are too good at what they do. Still spinning the chamber, pulling the trigger, going back for another round even when I know the odds. Scarlett Taylor just gave us the anthem for stacking body count that feels too good to regret. The house always wins eventually, but until then? We’re all in.
