Renee D’Angelo’s Crazy For You Captures the Chaos of Love

Renee D’Angelo’s “Crazy For You” combines country and disco to describe the often infuriating experience of being in love with the wrong person—someone who’s always drawing you in and then pushing you away. With honest storytelling and a danceable rhythm, D’Angelo offers a song that’s as free as it’s danceable.

    Renee D'Angelo

Inspired by her own experience of dating an “inconsistent Gemini male,” D’Angelo crafts a deeply relatable narrative about the frustration of chasing someone who can’t make up their mind. The lyrics cut deep:

“I know I’m not a fool, but I feel foolish for falling for you / ‘Cause one minute you’re so sweet to me, and then go all Jekyll and Hyde on me.”

The idea of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is the perfect description of the emotional rollercoaster of being in an unpredictable romance. The upbeat instrumentation keep the song from being sad, instead turning heartbreak into a reason to hit the dance floor. D’Angelo herself has said she dances to it “20 times a day“—and it’s easy to see why.

Vocally, D’Angelo shines with a passionate delivery that balances vulnerability with strength. There’s an undeniable twang in her voice, a signature of her Long Island-born, country-infused style, but the disco influences add a modern, almost hypnotic charm. It’s polished and vibrant, a cross-genre song that will appeal to country and dance-pop fans.

Being a professional singer-songwriter from age six, D’Angelo has a talent for combining genres into a style that is all hers. “Crazy For You” continues that tradition, following the success of her long-awaited album, 495. With past accolades like opening for Lee Brice and winning Long Island’s Next Big Country Star, she is proving to be a force in the country-pop scene.

Crazy For You is a song that gets stuck in your head because its good and real. Its a reminder that love makes us feel ecstatic, stupid, hopeful and heartbroken all at once. Whether you’re belting out the lyrics in your car, dancing in your room or thinking about a past love, this song will hit you.
