Naesh’s ‘Better Me’ Is What Happens When a Man Worships You Into His Best Self

We know Naesh and we know he loves his wife. No, scratch that. He worships her and that kind of adoration from a man opens up some pretty interesting power dynamics for a woman. You know that old saying, if he’s thinking about you all the time, you’re probably a witch? Yeah, well this track is basically a confession that she’s cast a spell and he’s fully under it. Here’s the thing about having a man this obsessed with you: it means you can lean back and watch him work himself into the ground trying to be worthy of your attention. The best part? He thinks it’s all his idea. He’s grinding overtime, running up bags, buying that Mercedes. Working to become a better version of himself and all of it is because she exists and lets him orbit her. That’s the kind of control that doesn’t require you to say a single word. You just are, and he does. I’m taking emotional notes.

Naesh opens this funky-pop track with the most devoted shit I’ve heard in a minute: “Baby you know I can’t lie / You’re the reason I’m so fly / My love for you it will never die / Even when we’re both in the sky.” Straight up telling her she’s the source of his entire vibe. He’s fly because of her, his love is eternal, and apparently they’re dying together too which is romantic and also slightly unhinged. Then he admits “I’m trying something new witchu lady / Love the way that you drive me crazy / Girl you know that I need it / Girl you know I’m feenin.” Listen, when a man says he’s feening for you, he’s already gone. Full-blown addiction energy. She drives him crazy and he needs it. Needs her. The production here is bright and bouncy with punchy percussion that makes you want to move, but underneath all that funk is a man who’s completely gone.

Now here’s where it gets filthy. “Throwin it back while she says hey baby / Pushin the seats back in a new Mercedes.” So she’s throwing it back in the passenger seat of a car he probably bought just to impress her, and he’s watching like it’s a religious experience. The visual is hot as hell. She’s in control of the whole situation deciding when and where and how and he’s just grateful to be there. That line hit different. Then he says “Give it to me cuz you know you wanna / Give you the world so baby go and flaunt it.” He’s literally telling her to flaunt the fact that he’s giving her everything. Take it all, show it off, make everyone jealous. He’s calling it generosity. It’s worship.

The chorus is where Naesh gets vulnerable in a way that makes the whole power dynamic even hotter. “You’re the girl I’m choosin to take in life / I’m tryna give you the whole world and make you my wife / And because of you now baby I do believe / That I can reach new heights and become a better me.” Okay but pause. He’s saying his entire self-improvement journey exists because of her. Every goal and every version of himself he’s working toward is motivated by wanting to be worthy of keeping her around. That’s the kind of devotion that gives you all the leverage. She just exists and he’s scrambling to level up so she doesn’t get bored and find someone who will serve her better. Real talk, that’s the sexiest kind of pressure you can put on a man without saying a word.

Naesh, this Bay Area pop-funk artist we’ve covered before who’s been performing since he was five years old, knows exactly what he’s doing here. The Bruno Mars meets Anderson Paak energy with that modern pop polish makes this track feel effortless, but the lyrics are doing heavy lifting. When he sings “She’s cheering me on saying that’s my baby / Smooth like butter and I stay too wavy / Grinding for this girl I can’t be lazy / In it for us running up the bag,” he’s telling us she has him working overtime. Grinding so he doesn’t disappoint her. Running up the bag so she has options. And listen, she’s cheering him on which sounds supportive until you realize it’s the same energy as a coach pushing an athlete. She’s invested in his success because his success benefits her. That’s smart.

Then comes the line that reveals everything. “Have it your way baby however you want it.” However she wants it. That’s the whole relationship. She gets it her way. She decides. She controls the pace and the outcome. And he’s so deep in his feelings for her that he genuinely believes this is partnership when really she’s running the entire operation. The way he delivers these lines with sincerity mixed with swagger makes it even better. He thinks he’s the one with the power because he’s the one providing but she’s the one who made him want to provide in the first place. That’s the difference between having money and having influence. She has influence.

The bridge gets desperate in a way that’s honestly pretty fucking hot. “Don’t be scared girl to take a leap / I promise that you’re all I want and I’ll ever need / So just trust in the vision that’s so complete.” He’s reassuring her, damn near begging her to commit fully because he needs her to believe in the vision. His vision of them. A vision where he spends his entire life working to deserve her presence. That tension is what keeps him motivated. Always chasing and always trying to be enough.

The whole track is pussy-whipped excellence wrapped in funky-pop packaging. The catchy melodic lines and the radio-ready production makes this feel like a celebration and honestly it is. It’s celebrating the kind of woman who makes a man want to be better simply because she exists and she’s worth the effort. Naesh isn’t complaining about the dynamic. He’s leaning into it. He’s grateful for it. “I might just reach new heights and become a better me” might as well be his thesis statement. She’s the catalyst for every version of himself he’s trying to become.

That’s the kind of power you don’t have to announce. You just let him announce it for you. Let him tell the world you’re the reason he’s grinding and the reason he’s fly. Let him buy the Mercedes and push the seats back. Let him worship you into becoming his best self. You just have to exist and be exactly the type of woman you already are. He’ll do the rest. Trust me on this one.
