Mylani Tsunami’s ‘FYBU’ Talks Shit and Looks Good Doing It

Some songs flirt with confidence. Mylani Tsunami’s FYBU walks into the room already convinced every bitch in it knows her name. The title means “Fucking You Bitches Up,” which tells you pretty much everything about the temperature before the first verse even starts. Built as R&B-infused pop rap, the track has enough melodic gloss to keep things sexy while Mylani spends the rest of her time talking her shit. I love a woman who skips the fake humility phase. If you already know you’re that bitch, forcing everybody to sit through a TED Talk about your personal growth feels exhausting anyway.

Mylani establishes the pecking order immediately with “Baby, I been knew I was one of one / And I look too good to fuck bitches up.” That second line is ridiculous in the way good brag rap should be. She’s basically admitting violence would interfere with the outfit. Then comes “Fly my bitch out on her birthday / Fuck n**as, I do ’em the worst way,” and suddenly we’re dealing with a woman whose loyalty sounds expensive and whose patience with men appears beautifully limited. Producer MixedByCrook keeps the track sleek enough for the R&B side of the equation while the repeated “Fucking you bitches up” hook turns the whole thing into one giant flex.

Trust Fund Babii arrives ready to make the situation considerably less diplomatic. “What? I’m supposed to be scared of you? / ’Cause I’m cute and I’m little too?” is such a bratty little setup, and then she follows it with “Bitch, I got four sisters / What you tryna do?” I laughed because that is not conflict resolution. That is a family group chat becoming a tactical unit. Her verse keeps escalating until she drops “Yes, I’m so fucking rich / Trust Fund Babii on the mic, bitch,” which may be the least subtle introduction imaginable and therefore completely appropriate.

Los Angeles rapper Mylani Tsunami has been building this attitude for a minute. Her catalog stretches back to Gwendolyn in 2022 and has since grown through releases including Work For It and That Bitch. Her live world has expanded around the Wave Team, bringing dancers and choreography into the performance side of the project. FYBU feels comfortably at home in that universe. Mylani has spent several releases making confidence part of the vocabulary, and now she has Trust Fund Babii beside her helping turn it into a group activity.

FYBU works because Mylani and Trust Fund Babii commit to the attitude all the way through. Nobody pauses to make the swagger respectable. Nobody explains why the confidence is empowering. They are busy being loud about who they are and apparently keeping several sisters on standby. The repeated “I wish a bitch would” says everything else that needs saying. Sometimes hot-girl confidence comes with affirmations. Sometimes it comes with a good beat and the strong possibility somebody is about to get their ass verbally handed to them.

Mylani Tsunami's 'FYBU' means 'Fucking You Bitches Up,' and the track keeps that energy from start to finish. R&B-infused pop rap with hot girl swagger and Trust Fund Babii joining the trouble.
