There are men you want for a night, and then there are men who get inside your bloodstream so thoroughly that leaving them feels almost unnatural. I’ve had the second kind. The kind where one look across a room changes your plans and his mouth near your neck makes common sense feel optional. You know he could take too much from you. You also know you’re going back. That is the filthy little bargain at the center of Livia Drew’s ‘Vampyre’. She turns devotion into something hungry enough to bite and seductive enough that forever starts sounding hot.
The toy piano is creepy in the prettiest possible way, chiming underneath sweeping strings while the whole thing circles in a dark waltz. Livia keeps her vocal close enough to feel almost private. Livia keeps her vocal so intimate that the fantasy closes in until you can practically feel his breath against your neck. That intimacy is where the song gets fucking sexy. Nothing rushes. The music keeps circling until you understand how somebody could stay mesmerized long enough to let a very questionable man start looking eternal. Livia cites Agnes Obel and Chelsea Wolfe among the sonic references, and that icy elegance makes sense here. This sounds like a music box somebody opened at 1 a.m. and found desire staring back.

She barely needs two words to tell me where her judgment went. “I’m mesmerized.” Yeah, I know that man. He catches your eye from across the room and whatever intelligent shit you were saying becomes significantly harder to finish. One good look and I’m volunteering as a food group – hold the garlic. Eye contact gets dangerous when both people understand where it could lead, and Livia sings from that delicious second before anybody actually moves. I’ve changed my plans dramatically because a man glammed me with one look. Apparently my self-control is embarrassingly vulnerable to vampire shit.
Then the fantasy starts feeding on her. He takes while she weakens, and she remains caught in the pull anyway. Livia reduces the romance to “all that I bleed,” and love has gotten under the skin in a way that feels almost indecent. I like that she lets the hunger stay ugly enough to be hot. She knows he is taking something from her. She still wants him close and, fuck, I understand that too. I mean, if he’s going to suck the life out of me, my neck wouldn’t be the place I’d prefer he start. Livia understands the thrill without giving me a fucking lecture about what I should learn from it.

Then Livia goes straight for forever with “Eternally you & I,” and the vampire fantasy gets a lot fucking hotter. Forever sounds completely different when the man offering it already has his mouth near your throat. Commitment gets gothic as hell when eternity comes with teeth. Livia makes that devotion feel physical enough that I can imagine the pause before the bite and the little tilt of the head that gives him access. That is the sexy part. She is choosing the surrender because the danger itself has become part of what she wants. Immortality becomes an excuse to keep the night going forever.
Livia Drew is a New York-based singer-songwriter and pianist whose background includes classical piano and jazz vocals. She debuted with ‘Oculus’ in 2024 and her current music lives comfortably around dream pop and darkwave. You can hear that control in how little Livia needs to do before the tension starts flirting for her. She knows how much heat she can get from keeping things quiet. Give me a woman who understands that whispering something dangerous can be hotter than screaming it – especially when the fucking toy piano underneath her sounds like it belongs in the bedroom of a haunted dollhouse.
Some men are worth one night. The dangerous ones convince you that forever sounds fun before you have even decided whether they deserve tomorrow morning. At that point the red flag is technically a cape. Girls, every sexy vampire story needs a bitch dumb enough to open the door. I’d probably be standing there in a leather teddy asking if he wants a drink. ‘Vampyre’ takes that reckless little urge to let somebody consume you and makes the bite feel worth offering. He can keep the immortality speech. If his mouth is already that close to my neck, I’m tilting my head and letting him finish the fucking sentence.
