Kierra Sari’s ‘I Get Lonely’ Is the Ride-or-Die R&B We Needed

I swore I was going to be chill about it. I Told my friends and myself and stood in my kitchen at midnight eating leftover pasta genuinely believing every word coming out of my mouth. I had rules. Don’t double text. Don’t let anyone see how gone you actually are. And then one random Wednesday I caught myself doing everything on that list before lunch, and the whole chill girl act was over, my ass exposed, and I genuinely did not care. There’s this moment where you stop performing cool and just admit it. You’re feral about someone. You’d wait all day. The whole “I’m totally fine, I barely think about him” thing is done and you both know it. Kierra Sari wrote ‘I Get Lonely’ from inside that feeling and made it sound this good, and now I don’t know how to handle myself.

The production is slow grind, sexy R&B. Soft instrumental textures underneath her voice, warm and unhurried, the kind of sound that moves with you when you’re not trying to rush anything. Everything built to pull you closer. It sounds like 2am with the lights low and someone close enough to feel their breath. Her vocal control is goddamn stunning across the whole track, knowing when to lean into the heat and when to let it simmer. That restraint is what makes the whole thing burn.

The opening verse sets the whole tone. ” I don’t wanna fight, I’ll be here in the morning / Tryna make it right, I barely got the warning / Runnin’ out of time, baby can you just hold me? / When you catchin’ flights you know that I get lonely “ – she’s done with the argument before it starts, already soft and ready, offering herself up before the tension even lands. The way she delivers it is slow and deliberate like she’s already undressing the moment with both hands and taking her sweet time getting there. Then the shift to “Are we out of time, baby, can you just hold me?” in the second verse is where the urgency turns into something more vulnerable. The first time it’s a statement. The second time it’s a question, and that single word change is where you feel how scared she actually is of losing this.

Then she’s making her full case. “Promise I’ll be nice, can I still be your baby? / You’re just so damn fine, yeah, you can’t even blame me” That second line does something to me every single time. She’s giving him zero ground to stand on. You’re fine as hell and I’m absolutely gone for you and that is literally your fault. The delivery has this slow, honeyed pull to it that makes you want to agree with whatever she says next.

“Your love drives me crazy, nobody else pays me / Can we take it deeper? Wanna have your babies” is where she stops pacing herself entirely. She went from missing him to wanting to build a whole life in about four seconds and she is perfectly happy about where she landed. ‘Can we take it deeper’ is doing double duty. She wants more of him emotionally and she wants more of him inside her and she is asking for both in the same breath.

“And I could wait, I could wait all day like I’m gettin’ a prize / Promise I’ll be really, really nice” – she says ‘really, really nice’ twice and the second time it comes out slow, like she’s already in his bed with both her mind and legs open and absolutely nowhere else to be.

The bridge is where she gets raw and doesn’t flinch doing it. “Yeah, I got a past for sure, need a pass, that’s for sure / Please do not judge me for whatever came before” is her putting everything on the table and asking for grace. And then right away, “I’m your ride-or-die bitch, I’ll be Rih, you Rocky” – she went from asking not to be judged to naming the dynamic she wants with one of the most iconic pairings in recent history. She’d burn the whole thing down for this man and she knows it and she is completely fine with that. “If we’re being honest, this has not been easy / But that’s why I love it, ’cause I know we rockin'” closes it out and she means every word. She wants the love that costs something.

Kierra Sari is out of Kingsland, Georgia, which is not a city that gets name-dropped in music press very often, and she clearly does not give a damn about that. She’s been releasing on Best Kept Recordings all through 2025, dropping singles like ‘F.U.C.K.’ and ‘I Hate U’ and ‘Girls Love Beyonce’ and an EP called ‘Miss Baker,’ building her catalog one honest, emotionally loaded track at a time. She got into music because songwriting was how she processed life and she traces it back to sitting in her bedroom as a kid with headphones on listening to Aaliyah and finally feeling understood. That’s the whole mission: make someone else feel less alone in whatever they’re carrying. In 2023 she lost her mom and kept creating anyway which tells you more about her than any press bio could. She’s not here to keep up with anyone or fill space and the music makes that obvious. Every release gets more refined, more aligned, more her, and ‘I Get Lonely’ is her being more vulnerable than ever while somehow sounding more confident than ever doing it.

Kierra says “when everyone understands you, you’re probably blending in.” And then: “But when some people don’t, it allows your people to find you.” ‘I Get Lonely’ is not trying to appeal to everyone and it doesn’t need to. Her people are going to find this and they are absolutely going to lose their shit. “And when they do, your circle becomes more solid, more intentional, more trustworthy. That’s a trade I’m willing to make.” She sounds like someone who has already decided how this ends and is just waiting for everyone else to catch up.

‘I Get Lonely’ is for the girl who is so gone for someone she’s stopped even trying to act like she has her shit together about it. Kierra is flat-out negotiating for her place in this relationship, putting her complicated past on the table and saying don’t you dare judge me for it. She wants his babies. She will wait all fucking day because he is the prize and she knows it. The loneliness when he catches flights is just the truth of being this far gone, and she’s done dressing it up as independence. There’s something about the way she owns the desperation that makes it sexy as hell, like she decided being feral for someone was a personality trait worth keeping. She is ALL the way in on the ride-or-die version of this love and she is not sorry about a single bit of it.

I gave up on being chill about my situation somewhere around month three. Told my friends over drinks and they all looked at me like they’d known for weeks which was honestly a little rude of them. Being gone for someone is just the truth of how it is when you pick the right person, and at some point you stop treating it like a problem that needs fixing. Kierra already knew that. She wrote the whole thing down and put it over the slowest, most seductive R&B production of the year and now I’m back at midnight eating leftover pasta feeling more seen than I have in a good while.
