Kaleena Zanders’s ‘Thinking Of Yesterday’ Burns Through Yesterday

Memory is rude as hell because it never stays polite. One minute I’m doing laundry, pretending to be functional, and the next my brain is playing a highlight reel of someone’s tongue and hands and his stupid little way of making me lose my damn mind. That is the messy place Kaleena Zanders walks into on ‘Thinking Of Yesterday.’ This song understands that missing someone can feel physical. It can live low in your body and make it remember what your pride keeps trying to delete. I hate when that shit happens. I also respect the shit out of a song that admits it.

Production wise, ‘Thinking Of Yesterday’ moves with that old school house pulse and UK garage bounce that makes heartbreak feel sweaty. The beat does not sit around feeling sorry for itself. It works the floor. The groove has that late club warmth where the lights are low, your drink is sweating, and somebody’s body is close enough to make common sense start malfunctioning. Kaleena’s vocal sits right on top with gospel rooted muscle and pop clarity, which gives the track its power. She sounds open, but she still sounds in control. That matters.

When she sings “Thinking of yesterday / About you, about me, and what we do / I’m dreaming of yesterday with you / But those dreams never came true,” the song slides straight into the fantasy. She is remembering the heat and the possibility in the same breath. The line feels romantic, but there is something horny underneath it because “what we do” leaves enough room for the imagination to get filthy. This is longing with a pulse between its legs.

Then she tightens the emotional grip with “I wasn’t the same when you left / I won’t be the same ’til you come back / There’s no need to lie to you / I’m thinking of yesterday.” That is the part where pride leaves the room. She is not dressing this up to look cooler. She wants him back and the honesty is goddamn sexy because pretending not to care is exhausting. Sometimes the body wants what it wants and the brain can take a seat.

The second half gets stranger and more interesting with “Thinking of yesterday without you / Didn’t know what I would lose / Speaking of yesterday, was that you? / Or someone for me, brand-new.” That little question shifts everything. She is missing him, but she is also wondering if the person in her memory is real anymore. That is where the dance track gets sharp. Desire can make a ghost look fuckable. We have all been there, unfortunately.

Kaleena Zanders has the kind of voice that can carry a club record without losing the soul inside it. She is a powerhouse vocalist and songwriter who also moves as a DJ and producer and her 2026 era looks huge with a debut album and her first national headline run- the Anything Goes Tour. After Coachella 2025 appearances and collaborations with names across dance music she sounds ready to take the room by the waist and run it her way.

By the end, “What’s your language, I’m still learning / Will you give me one more clue? / Past and future changing slowly / But I wanna change with you (I wanna change)” turns the craving into surrender. She wants the lesson. She wants the clue. She wants the version of herself that only exists when this person is close enough to ruin her sleep. I started this review thinking about how memory loves to interrupt a normal day with dirty little receipts. Kaleena makes that interruption feel worth it. ‘Thinking Of Yesterday’ is sweaty, aching, and catchy as hell, the kind of track that makes nostalgia feel less innocent and way more dangerous.

Kaleena Zanders’s ‘Thinking Of Yesterday’ is dance pop for the version of you who swears she moved on until the beat starts touching old memories in the dark. That house pulse knows too much.
