Jen Urban’s ‘Drip SPF25 Remix’ Is Queer Femme Heat

The first time I heard Jen Urban’s ‘Drip SPF25 Remix’, I was already a little fucked up from cocktails and a club that hadn’t even hit peak hour yet. The bass landed first—thick, steady, pushing the air out of the room—like someone pressing in close, lips grazing that spot just under my ear before they say something they know will get them in trouble. Jen’s voice came through sharp and teasing, I got energy like the sun’s rays / pulling up to you with the fat bass. Every word lands with the same confidence as a hand sliding onto your thigh without asking.

She’s a Brooklyn fixture—two decades running dance floors, dropping sets that make people forget they’ve got to be at work in four hours. She’s a DJ, a producer, a singer-songwriter, and every track she touches blends pop hooks with underground club textures, all laced with queer femme energy. The original ‘Drip’ came out under her R0zegld moniker, but this remix? This one’s a strut. For fans of Slayyyter, Doechii, Charli XCX, Princess Nokia, Shygirl—it’s built for late-night club sets, TikTok thirst traps, and the kind of moment when the energy shifts and suddenly every gaze in the place is locked on you.

The way she hits If you’re missing something / I’ll take up space / I’m taking up space with you—it’s pure possession, a claim staked before you’ve even agreed to play. I’ve been that girl in the corner, sizing someone up, knowing exactly what I’d do if they didn’t move fast enough. This is that moment in song form, the one where you decide to hit it first and figure out if you like each other later.

Drip drip drip / Dancing on hot nights—that can be sweat dripping down your back from a small club with a busted AC, or the kind of slow build a little lower when you’re too close for too long, or maybe both. Will you hold me tight comes off needy in all the right ways, the kind that keeps you locked in even when the crowd is shifting. Then she slides into How my jewels shine so bright, and I’m seeing her take the center of the floor, eyes on her like spotlights.

That’s the thing about Jen—she owns the room and everyone in it. While you’re sipping drinks / I’m dancing on bars / We’ll only be riding in fancy cars. That’s not aspirational, that’s Tuesday for her. And when she says We let everybody think that we’re big stars / We are, we are, there’s zero irony. In her world, the performance never stops, and the audience is always ready.

The production in this remix leans hard into that fantasy—thick, pulsing beats, percussive snaps, and space between the kicks that lets you feel every movement. It’s sultry without dragging, confident without rushing. You could grind to it for six minutes straight and still not be ready for it to end.

Jen’s got an LP coming—Lessons from Fairytales, dropping September 30—and if this track’s any indication, she’s not here for your happily-ever-after bullshit. She’s trading castles for penthouses, glass slippers for patent leather platforms, and making sure the story ends exactly where she wants it to.

When ‘Drip SPF25 Remix’ fades out, you’re not ready to let go. It’s the same heat as that moment after the last kiss, when you’re still close enough to feel their breath but already thinking about round two. And just like that, you hit repeat.
