I have a terrible track record with men who are universally liked. If every bartender and roommate lights up when he walks in, my brain immediately starts running an unpaid risk assessment because apparently I enjoy dating men with excellent Yelp reviews. The annoying part is when he actually deserves the hype. He’s sweet to you, everybody else adores him and suddenly your cute little crush comes with a side order of why the fuck does everybody in this room light up when he walks in? J.Alyse’s ‘Everyone Loves You’ lives right inside that feeling. She genuinely likes this guy and knows why other people do too, which is adorable until your brain starts wondering how many of them are thinking the same shit you are. Loving someone popular is romantic right up until social proof starts feeling personal.
J.Alyse gives all this overthinking a smooth little R&B groove that feels made for staying in with somebody you actually like. Her vocal sits close to the melody, relaxed enough that you can picture movie night slowly becoming the kind of night where nobody remembers what the fuck they were watching. The nervousness stays tucked underneath all that comfort because she knows other people see what she sees in him. Honestly, that’s almost worse. It’s much easier to dismiss a crush when everybody else thinks he’s annoying.

The hook finally says the nervous part out loud with “You, I don’t know what to do / Everyone adores you, everyone loves you / Don’t make me out to be a fool.” There it is. She trusts what they have enough to enjoy it, and there’s still that tiny voice asking whether being the girl he chooses is going to stay this simple. J.Alyse keeps feeding the crush with “You, you’re the meal and the dessert / I get way more than I deserve / You always put me first,” which is such a horny little compliment hiding inside a sweet one. Calling a man the meal and dessert tells me dinner is going very fucking well and there may be absolutely no reason to clear the plates before moving to the bedroom.
It’s the cozy shit that really sells me, though. “You’re a rainy day on a Friday night / We stay in movies, we binge, take all to our delight” makes the relationship feel lived-in instead of staged for Instagram. Then “You check my vibe and say I’m the prize” gives her the reassurance she’s been quietly craving. Good. Because if I’m spending Friday night on your couch while half the city thinks you’re charming, I need occasional confirmation that I am still the woman getting the premium subscription. That’s basic customer service.

J.Alyse is an independent R&B artist from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and ‘Everyone Loves You’ is her first release, which is a pretty confident way to walk into the room. She introduces herself with one smooth relationship problem and enough personality to make me curious about what comes next. J.Alyse says she plans to build her catalog and play with different sounds, so this is basically our first date with her. So far, I’d agree to a second one if she puts out.
Everybody can love him. Fine. J.Alyse gets the part that actually matters when he checks her vibe and reminds her she’s the prize. That little reassurance lets ‘Everyone Loves You’ keep its nervous flutter without turning the crush into a full psychological emergency. I understand the problem though. If the whole room thinks my man is wonderful, I’m going to enjoy the compliment and keep one eye on the fucking Yelp reviews.
