When I listened to “PWM” for the first time, I didn’t expect to feel so fucking seen. I wouldn’t call this a slow jam. It’s more like a slow reveal. IZYE isn’t out here trying to impress or seduce with smoke and mirrors. She’s inviting us into her private, sacred headspace with the kind of song you only write when you’ve sat in your own silence long enough to actually hear what your heart’s saying.
Let’s start with the title. “PWM” stands for “patient with me,” which already sets the tone: this isn’t a song about perfection, it’s about process. It’s about knowing your shit’s messy and saying, If you want to love me, you’re gonna have to take your time. That line—“can
u be patient with me?”—isn’t some cute hook. It’s a challenge from a woman who’s seen too much to fall again so easily.

I exhaled at the first verse. “I don’t give my heart to many / truth is baby / i already been thru plenty.” That’s an emotional autobiography for a whole generation of women who’ve learned the hard way. She says she’s “breaking cycles slowly” and I love how honest that is. She’s not broken or healed but is in progress like we all are.
This track is a soft R&B slow grind, all dreamy edges and deep bass, but it doesn’t rely on production tricks to hold you. She doesn’t run from the truth, either. She confesses her baggage is heavy: “if u can hold it up / then u can get to know me.” That’s such a real-ass way to frame intimacy. Not asking for someone to fix her, just to carry it with her. It’s romantic as fuck in the most grounded way possible.
There’s a verse that hit especially hard: “I’m a mirror (yeah yeah) / show u my reflection (ah).” She’s not talking about projecting some fantasy onto a man. She’s saying, If you wanna love me, be ready to see your own shit too. Because relationships will show you everything you’ve been avoiding—and this girl? She’s ready to face it all.
Even when she’s curled up on the couch with her dogs, hiding from the world— “they love me despite my flaws” —she’s not romanticizing loneliness. She’s just learned to be at home in her solitude. But still, she wants more. “I want love that’s so unconditional.” Like, not love that fixes her. Love that holds her steady.

IZYE’s not new to this, by the way. This Latina-Jewish trap-pop goddess has collaborated with Marc E. Bassy and toured with RUSSELL! She’s currently opening for FLO on their West Coast tour. She’s got the receipts and the rawness—and “PWM” proves she’s not afraid to let her guard down if the story calls for it.
The last lines say it all: “Looking for somebody / who’ll wrap their arms around n / take care of me yeah.” But don’t get it twisted—she’s not begging. She’s saying: I’ve got me. If you’re coming in, come correct.
This track’s not just for the heartbreak girls. It’s for the ones who’ve done the work, who know they’re a handful, who still want someone strong enough to hold them—not tame them. I’ve never heard self-protection sound this sensual, and maybe that’s why I can’t stop replaying it.
