“Extra Sweet” by Brooke Taylor Is Your New Crush Anthem

“This is my take on a sensual pop song that also maintains some innocence,” Brooke Taylor says of her new single Extra Sweet. And honestly? That’s exactly what it delivers—pure, irresistible flirtation wrapped in sugar-dusted vocals and the kind of melody that makes you want to grab a gloss and hit the town.

I listened to this song for the first time while getting ready for a date—the kind where you’re not sure if it’s just drinks or if you should shave your legs and bring the red lipstick. You know that giddy, restless energy right before you step into the unknown with someone you’re crushing on hard? That’s the energy Extra Sweet bottles up and turns into glittery, bubblegum confetti.

From the first line—“Tell me one thing, when we are together do you feel better?”—I was hooked. It’s that intoxicating combo of vulnerability and sass. Brooke is laying it out there, but she’s not begging. She’s inviting. Daring. It’s like when you lock eyes with someone across the bar and pretend you’re not already picturing the kiss that might happen by 1 a.m.

The production is sleek and modern but never too cool to dance. Think rooftop cocktails with your favorite girls, golden hour selfies, and someone texting “come over?” while you’re still deciding between heels or boots. The chorus hits like a rush of heat:

“You can bring me home / Tell me what you want / Cause I’m feeling extra sweet this evening…”

It’s coy, cheeky, and confident AF. Brooke’s voice teases the track it like she knows exactly what she wants and isn’t afraid to say it, but she’ll make you sweat a little first. I love how she plays with imagery—“Trace my freckles down / somewhere no one’s around”—it’s so intimate and so specific, like something you’d whisper under the sheets when you finally get the alone time you’ve been fantasizing about all week.

But don’t let the sweetness fool you. There’s a pulse of desire running under every lyric. “Do you feel the tension, cause I forgot to mention I’m craving your affection…” Girl, yes. Who hasn’t had that moment where you’re trying to play it cool, but your body is already halfway in lust?

The bridge melts into a relaxed state, like you’re curled up under the covers with someone who knows every inch of you and still can’t get enough. “You tell me without making a sound…” Mmm! It’s giving candlelight. It’s providing tangled legs and whispered secrets and maybe staying a little too long the next morning.

Brooke Taylor’s evolution from the introspective depth of Ruined Me to this fresh, flirty bop is the move of a woman stepping into her power. She’s not just singing about romance anymore—she’s commanding it, crafting fantasies we can all slide into like our favorite silk slip.

If you’re craving a song that makes you feel sexy, playful, and just a little dangerous—Extra Sweet is the one. It’s the soundtrack for texting your crush first. For dancing in your underwear. For letting yourself be soft, then intense, then seductive, all in the same breath.

Put this one on repeat. I already have.
