ELI TRONIC and Elin Engdahl’s ‘Echo Of My Soul’ Makes Its Case

Swedish dance pop has been running the table since the 70s and ‘Echo Of My Soul’ by ELI TRONIC and Elin Engdahl is the latest example, doing something with that formula that hits harder than you’d expect, and the chemistry between them is why. The song is about love that survives hardship and comes out the other side stronger, and Elin’s voice selling that premise is doing shit that the lyrics alone couldn’t pull off.

The production is atmospheric and patient. ELI TRONIC (Elias Lunde, 18, from Gothenburg, already 30+ songs deep into his Spotify catalog, which is fucking wild for someone that age) builds tension before Elin even opens her mouth. There’s something restless moving through the bass and synth layers, a low-level heat running underneath the whole thing, and then she arrives.

She opens with “The lights fade out / The edges burn / Night’s taking hold of me” and you feel the temperature shift. Elin delivers it low and certain, like she already knows where this ends. The pull in her voice is doing most of the work and the production knows to stay the hell out of the way.

The chorus is where everything opens. “Calling me / Into the dark I’ll go / Fall into me now / Hope was gone but then / Your voice awoke / The echo of my soul.” That line sits at the center of the whole song and it earns it. Two people who’ve been through something and are still finding each other on the other side. The kind of love that keeps pulling you back no matter how far you’ve drifted.

” I’m getting near / I feel it surge / I’m letting down my guard “ lands right when the production swells behind it and the surrender becomes completely real. That pairing is not an accident. Elias knows what he’s doing.

Elin Engdahl is from Norrköping, Sweden, and she has been doing this longer than the spotlight suggests. Her 2018 debut EP “Embers” was four tracks of love and self-reflection she wrote while living in Switzerland. Then she went quiet for years which honestly makes her 2024 return feel more deliberate. She came back with a Swedish-language single and walked straight into the ELI TRONIC project. Years of quiet before a return that deliberate reads like strategy.

Elias Lunde is 18 years old, from Gothenburg, and has already dropped over 30 songs on Spotify. Sit with that for a second. Eighteen. His debut album landed in summer 2024 and pulled radio play across multiple countries including a spot on Nordic Rox, the SiriusXM show Per Gessle of Roxette hosts. Per Gessle does not play shit he doesn’t believe in. That co-sign means something.

” Every step I take / Leads me back to you. “ The whole song has been building to this and by the time it arrives you’ve already felt it. There’s no drama in that line, no performance. It’s stated like a fact someone finally stopped fighting. Elin delivers it and the production drops back and lets it breathe, and that restraint is what makes the whole thing work. ‘Echo Of My Soul’ makes its case.
