Cheyenne Pohl Makes Craving Sound Dangerous on ‘Anticipating You’

Look, I crush a lot. Even when I’m perfectly happy in a relationship I constantly window shop other guys’ asses, bulges, smiles. I just can’t help it. Sometimes it leads me to anticipating what it would feel like with someone else – a coworker or the guy who smiled at me at Starbucks – even if the love of my life is sleeping right fucking next to me. The what-ifs that keep you staring at the ceiling at 3am replaying scenarios that haven’t happened. So when Cheyenne Pohl sings “lying wide awake, while you saturate every part of my brain” I felt that shit in my entire body. This is a song about craving someone so intensely it physically keeps you up at night and honestly? We’ve all been there.

Cheyenne opens with ” it’s never hit like this before, baby you’re the one I adore “ and there’s this immediate admission that whatever she’s feeling is different. Bigger. More consuming. Then she goes straight for it: “crave the taste of your lips, your skin under my fingertips.” We’re talking physical hunger here. Not some vague romantic longing but actual craving, the kind where you can’t stop thinking about how someone tastes and how they feel under your hands. That’s obsession territory. The production on this is retro-inspired synth-pop with these synths and guitar strums that give the whole damn thing this sensual glowing feeling. Think Steve Lacy by candlelight or Harry Styles in his late-night mode. The sound wraps around you the same way desire does.

“Lying wide awake, while you saturate every part of my brain” is where this gets unhinged in the best way. She can’t sleep. This person has completely taken over her thoughts. When someone saturates your brain they’re in every corner of it. You’re lying there at 2am replaying moments, imagining new ones, your body responding to thoughts alone. Then comes “you know we both know where this story goes, let’s do what words can’t say.” Fuck. That line does everything. It’s acknowledging that they both know exactly what’s happening next. The pretense is gone. Words aren’t necessary when the tension is this obvious. Let’s just get to it.

The chorus hits and Cheyenne’s singing ” anticipating you hands run down my body I just can’t refuse. “ She’s describing the physical response, the way touch moves across skin, the way refusing isn’t even an option when chemistry is this intense. ” The way your touch ignites me it’s so electrifying “ captures that full-body reaction when someone’s hands are on you. Then “no secret, no denying, these night sweats are coming on, anticipating you.” Night sweats. That’s the detail that makes this real instead of some sanitized version of attraction. Your body is physically responding to the thought of this person. You’re sweating. You’re restless. The anticipation is doing as much to your body as the actual touch would.

Here’s where everything shifts. “Now I know how to do it for ya, baby relax, let me lay it on ya.” The power dynamic just flipped completely. We’ve gone from ” I’m obsessed with you “ to ” I know exactly what you need and I’m about to deliver. “ There’s so much goddamn confidence in that line. ” You never have to ask me twice “ means she’s ready, willing, and knows what’s happening. ” Dim the lights, slow the vibe, bedroom getaway, perfect time and place. “ She’s setting the entire scene. The lighting, the mood, the location. This is control. This is someone who’s done anticipating and ready to act.

“Wrapped in emotion, it’s your body moves that create the groove.” The way Cheyenne links the physical to the emotional here is perfect. It’s not just sex it’s connection. Your body moves, the way you respond to each other, that creates the rhythm, the flow, the whole experience. Then she asks the question that’s been building: “why take it slow?” At this point, why would you? You’ve been lying awake thinking about this. You’ve been craving it. You both know what you want. The slow burn has already happened in your head for hours.

“And I just can’t refuse” comes back and it lands different this time. It’s not helplessness, it’s surrender as power. Refusing would be insane when every part of your body is saying yes. She’s horny, she’s honest about it, and she’s taking charge of the situation.

Cheyenne’s sound is vibrant and catchy as hell. She says 2026 is her year to smolder, and with ‘Anticipating You’ she’s leaning fully into that sensual energy. It’s unapologetically about physical desire from a female perspective. She owns what she wants without apology and describes craving someone with zero shame. The whole thing escalates from “I can’t stop thinking about you” to “let me show you exactly what I’ve been thinking about.” Obsession becomes action. Fantasy turns real. That shift is what makes this hot as fuck.

The crushes I mentioned? Still happen. The difference now is I recognize anticipation for what it is: sometimes the buildup is half the experience. Sometimes lying awake at 2am mentally undressing someone you haven’t even touched yet is its own kind of intimacy, and honestly? It fuels the sex life with the one you have. There’s nothing wrong with that. Cheyenne gets it. This track lives in both spaces and makes them equally electric.
