A good dance floor has talked me into some questionable decisions, and honestly, I respect the consistency. There is a point where somebody’s energy lines up with mine so cleanly that conversation gets easier and body language starts getting filthy. Blord’s ‘Frequency’ featuring Jaki Nelson lives right there. The title already gives the game away, because this is chemistry as synchronization. One person moves and the other somehow knows where to be. That kind of connection can turn one drink into staying out way too fucking late and a frantic search for my panties the next morning, especially once the space between two bodies starts feeling increasingly optional.

Blord builds the track around a fast melodic-house pulse with enough low-end weight to keep it planted firmly in the club. The synth work gives everything a dramatic sheen while the beat keeps pushing forward and the whole production feels designed for that part of the night when talking has become wildly overrated. There is a slickness to it that never feels sterile. ‘Frequency’ sounds like somebody dimmed the lights and quietly gave everybody permission to make worse decisions. Frankly, some of my best nights have started with that exact fucking energy.
Jaki is what gives all that production a pulse. Her vocal slides through the track with the kind of sultry confidence that makes flirting sound effortless which is harder than people think. She never has to oversell the heat because Blord leaves enough space around her for the tension to do its own work. I can picture the moment pretty clearly. You are close enough to feel somebody moving against you and neither of you is pretending this is still about the fucking music. That is the lane Jaki understands beautifully, and ‘Frequency’ is better for giving her room to own it.
Blord is the project of San Francisco producer and DJ Brett Ferrara, whose sound moves through melodic house and techno with a strong dance-pop instinct underneath it. He has already placed tracks in Beatport’s Top 10 and released through labels including Play Records and Soundproof Records. Jaki Nelson brings serious dance credentials of her own, with more than 200 million streams and a Diamond-certified feature in France through DJ Fluke’s ‘Seven Nation Army.’ She has also scored Billboard placements and built a career across singing and DJ work, which makes this pairing feel pretty fucking natural.

By the end, ‘Frequency’ has me thinking about the people who walk into a room and somehow make everybody else fade into wallpaper. Blord gives that feeling a club pulse, and Jaki brings the kind of vocal that makes getting closer seem like the only sensible option. Sometimes chemistry needs months of conversation. Sometimes it takes one track and a stranger whose hips keep finding yours. If we are already moving like this, babe, I am probably not asking for your fucking birth chart.
