I’ve chased a lot of highs in my life and most of them came in a pill or a cloud of smoke at a rooftop party where the night had that perfect soft-focus energy. But the one that wrecked me completely and I still think about had nothing to do with any of that. It was a person I was genuinely stupidly in love with who also happened to know what to do with that high. Somewhere between the sheets and the ceiling, my brain would just stop working. Fully stop. Can’t-remember-my-own-address, whole-ass-brain-offline kind of gone. Festival crowds at 2am with music so loud it replaced your heartbeat, body buzzing on something I definitely didn’t get from a pharmacy. None of that shit puts you in the place one specific person can. Bella Rose figured this out and made ‘Ride the High,’ and it’s the most accurate map I’ve ever heard of that completely unreachable state.
The song drops you in mid-float. “How high are you right now / I might fly but I’m coming down now” is the most perfect post-sex check-in I’ve ever heard set to music. She’s asking and answering at the same time. You’re both gone and coming back to earth simultaneously, that weightless moment when your body is still processing what just happened and your brain is somewhere three floors above you. Then she hits you with “Hi, how are you right now” and I’m done. That one little word. Hi. So casual, so intimate, like she’s checking in from the other side of the ceiling. Okay but “How are you feeling baby / We’re getting a little hazy” is the part that fucking wrecked me. The haze is the whole point and they’re both in it – where she wants to be.

Then the chorus hits and I need a second. “I just wanna ride the high / Take me to a place like paradise / Send me on a wave going to new heights / I just wanna fly all night.” She knows what she wants and she’s going to get it. The “ride” in the title is doing what you think it’s doing. She’s grinding on top of it, taking what she came for. The production here is ethereal and pulsing, and it feels like that 3am energy when you’re both sweaty and neither of you is anywhere close to done. That’s the vibe.
Listen, “I just wanna make you feel alive / Show you some things you can’t describe / Seeing me in a different light” is where Bella turns this from sexy to devastating. She wants to rewire him. Show him things his body didn’t know it could feel. That bar went hard. She KNOWS what she does to him and she knows he’s going to walk away from this seeing everything differently. The confidence in those lines is filthy as hell, and she earns every fucking bit of it.

And then: “So strong is it so wrong / I’m long gone on the high of this song.” That’s the one. The self-awareness of being completely lost on something you can’t explain to anyone else. Bella’s already there, full stop. The sound swells right at this moment and the whole damn thing feels like the physical surrender of giving in to something you knew was going to take you somewhere you couldn’t come back from the same way.
Bella Rose calls herself a “psychedelic alternative dance pop rock girly” and one listen to ‘Ride the High’ tells you everything about why. She’s Nashville-based, opened for Austin Mahone on the sold-out Lone Star Story Tour, and has shared stages with everyone from Foreigner to Ringo Starr. Creative Loafing put her in their 30 Under 30 Young Musicians and CNN Central covered her. She also runs All She Wants Media, a creative entertainment management agency. This is someone building something real. This track is the kind of shit that makes people stop scrolling.
That person I mentioned at the top? He ruined every other high I’ve ever chased. Nothing has touched it since. Bella Rose clearly knows that feeling from the inside out and had the nerve to write it down and I’ve been long gone on this track ever since. No prescription or illicit street transaction required.
