Let’s talk about Jingram’s ‘The Night Feels Better’ because this track is giving euphoric nu-disco heat, but make it pure worship energy. Being adored is fun but being worshipped is much more satisfying and this track knows the difference. I have been that girl on the dance floor wrecking lives and breaking hearts, and a woman who knows she’s desired moves differently. This song is the ultimate soundtrack to all of it.
Okay, so a guy wrote and performs this which literally makes it ten times hotter. We love to see a man down absolutely fucking terrible for a woman, and this track is a full testament to the ungodly chokehold the pussy has on the male psyche. It’s about a dude out at the function so mesmerized by this one girl that his entire night is ruined if she isn’t right there gracing him with her presence. He’s basically admitting that his brain short-circuits the second she walks onto the dance floor, and he’s desperately trying to stall the clock just to keep riding the high of her energy. It’s giving total pussy-drunk devotion – he knows he’s utterly powerless to her magnetism and he’s not fighting it. That level of feral, desperate male energy is the kind of validation we demand. He’s just praying for one more drink so he can keep drooling over her before inevitably begging to take her home.

The whole track runs on one admission he repeats until it stops sounding like a compliment. “The night feels better with you / Are you coming thru to the next spot? / ‘Cause it ain’t the same if you’re not” – that’s a grown man telling a woman his evening has no value unless she’s physically in the building. The hottest thing about obsession is how obvious it becomes in person, and he’s not hiding a fucking thing here. Every guy who’s ever asked me if I’m going to the next spot was asking something else, and Jingram at least has the honesty to build a whole song around the real question. He wants to know if he’s taking her home. He needs the answer before he can enjoy anything else.
Where it gets good is how thoroughly he humiliates himself in the verses. “Took my heart with you out onto the floor / Come on, give me more” and then “Must be hard being so beautiful, girl” and then the full surrender of “Come on, tear my world apart / With a feeling I can’t describe / It’s like everything comes alive around you.” He’s watching her from across the room in a state, asking to be destroyed by her, doing the thing men do where the compliment slips out because holding it in was making them unwell. Watching somebody fold under attraction will always be one of my favorite hobbies and this is the fold, recorded and released. He wants her riding him until he can’t finish a sentence and he put it on streaming.

Then he starts stalling and it’s the most pathetic thing on here in the best way. “Just one more song / One more drink / One last dance / Uh, get what you came for” – he’s negotiating with the clock like it might cut him a deal, and the second pass he can’t hold his own line and tacks on “Uh, and then one more.” A man deeply obsessed with you develops the survival instincts of a Victorian poet, meaning none, he’ll stand in a sweaty room until sunrise on the chance she lets him get his mouth on her. Get what you came for is the giveaway. He came for her and he’s been coming for her since she walked in.
I’ve left rooms like this one with a guy still watching the door long after I was gone, and I’ve never once thought about it in the car. Being the woman a night gets built around means you’re the one who decides when it’s over. Jingram wrote three and a half minutes of a man finding that out in real time and enjoying every second of it. ‘The Night Feels Better’ is his song. The floor is mine.
