ÅNGEL 004 describes ‘Horseshoe’ as “a hyper pop song written about the chase for love; two lovers almost coming together like the ends of a horseshoe,” and that is romantic as fuck until you are one of the idiots trapped inside it. It understands the exquisite irritation of wanting somebody who keeps missing every damn opening. Producer and composer Tournant built the track with ÅNGEL 004 as co-producer, threading breakbeat and ghettotech through its hyperpop core. I know this particular cockblock. On Thursdays, the guy I’d been circling reached the bar ten minutes after I left. By Saturday he was texting while I sat in an Uber headed the other direction. We finally ended up alone on a rooftop fire escape with our knees touching and both of us pretending the tension was casual. We stayed like that, his thigh pressed against mine while all that bad timing came down to which one of us would move first. That same frustration gives the track its heat because every delay tightens the attraction and makes the eventual payoff feel dirtier. All this romance needs is one of them to stop pretending and close the last few inches.
ÅNGEL 004 opens inside a romantic scheduling nightmare. “Over here / Over there / But we’re coming together baby / The difference / It doesn’t care / Never settle drive me crazy.” Chemistry gives zero fucks about logistics, and I love how quickly she loses patience with timing. She can already feel where this is going, which makes every polite delay seem a little more ridiculous and a lot less sexy.

Her composure starts slipping as the pursuit stretches on. “Innocent / I’m here to stay / Hanging on / For the ride / Far away / Oppostite / Now I see / The collide / Almost coming together baby.” She barely pauses long enough to finish a thought because waiting has her wound tight as fuck. By now, one long look could ruin whatever self-control they have left, and I fully support that kind of collapse.
The central image makes all that tension physical. “Like a magnet glued to you / Round the ends on a horse shoe / Look at what you made me do / Tracing ends that lead to you.” Her body has already memorized the route back to him, which is horny as hell when every detour keeps returning her to the same person. Desire keeps working on both of them until somebody gives in and ruins the polite little act.

ÅNGEL 004 started writing songs in middle school and performing at country jamborees across rural Kentucky, which means she was working stages while the rest of us were lying to our parents about whose basement we were sleeping in. By 18, she had recorded two albums and toured Kentucky and Tennessee. Once the country-pop persona stopped feeling like her, she dumped that shit before the relationship became any more embarrassing. Music stayed private for years until the pandemic pulled her back through DJing. That return became painfully personal while she cared for the grandfather who had raised her and first recognized her talent. As his health declined, the dream he once carried for her came roaring back; the day after his funeral, she stepped onto one of the biggest stages she had ever played. That history explains why her freåk pop can get filthy with club electronics without feeling emotionally vacant. Gospel and country shaped her voice, while secretly listening to Missy Elliott fed the defiant streak underneath it. Now based in Brooklyn, the Korean American producer brings electronic harp into her DJ sets and carried that delicious collision to Korea in 2026. Taking a harp to the club sounds mildly unhinged until ÅNGEL 004 does it. Then it feels sexy and overdue.
Remember that rooftop fire escape where neither of us wanted to move first? I finally slid onto his lap, and every missed bar and badly timed Uber became one obscenely long round of foreplay. ‘Horseshoe’ gets the delicious little truth beneath all that terrible timing because attraction gets filthier when both people know where it is going and still make each other wait. I beat him to the move that night, and he spent the rest of it making up for every fucking minute we had wasted.
