I’ve gone to a club convinced the universe owed me one extremely hot man by last call. Sometimes she delivers. Sometimes I spend three hours dancing with my girls while every man in the room somehow fails the audition. Aiko’s ‘A Class Angel’ understands that the night can still be fucking excellent when Prince Charming apparently missed the Uber. She walks in looking for somebody exceptional and gets a room full of strangers instead. Fine. The night still has plenty to offer.
Disco gives the song its pulse while rougher guitar keeps a little bite under the gloss. Steven Graham Ansell produced the track and co-wrote it with Aiko and her vocal stays light over the groove making the darker edges feel even sexier. Aiko has said this was the session where they fully committed to disco for her upcoming album and you can hear the decision settling into place. The song wants bodies moving and it never acts embarrassed about that.

She opens with “Start of the night / and I don’t want to waste my time / I woke up on the right side / and I want to feel alive.” Then comes my favorite getting-ready detail with “My lipstick’s in my boot, I’m running / Slamming my front door.” I know that scramble. The Uber is outside so the lipstick goes wherever it fucking fits. By the pre-chorus Aiko has already decided the evening belongs to her with “I dont need no love to get me high / Just by myself I’m the star of the night.” She came out hoping somebody might catch her attention. Her mood belongs to her.
The chorus gives the whole night its problem with “I came here looking for an A Class Angel / But I’m just dancing in a room of strangers.” I know that scan across the club when you’re deciding who might actually be worth taking home. A face catches your attention then thirty seconds later you can already tell he’d be more disappointing naked. Aiko keeps dancing because wanting somebody doesn’t make every available man a candidate.
Verse two is where the hunt starts losing its grip on her. “Didn’t bother chasing, yeah / I’m missing the last train / The rhythm’s my religion / and it’s calling out my name.” Missing the train should probably be the moment you admit the night has gone sideways. Aiko treats it like permission to stay. By the time she gets to “Adrenaline is in my veins / I got nothing in my head” the music has taken over. I know that point in the night when finding somebody hot suddenly feels like admin. You’re already sweaty and leaving sounds more annoying than staying. The A Class Angel can find her if he wants her badly enough.

By the bridge she has already missed the last train and stopped caring who might be leaving with her. “Maybe one night I won’t dance alone / But right now it’s good / and this feels like home.” I’ve gone out fully prepared to end the night naked with somebody and still climbed into my own bed alone because the night got good enough that finding a body stopped feeling urgent. Aiko gets that shift.
Aiko is the stage name of Brighton-based Czech artist Alena Shirmanova-Kostebelova, who represented Czechia at Eurovision 2024 with ‘Pedestal.’ Her current era moves into what she calls dark disco after a period when anger had pushed her music harder toward rock. She has said she wanted the upcoming album to make her want to dance and ‘A Class Angel’ became the session where that direction clicked. The title had been sitting in her notes for months before she brought it into the studio. Released August 28 through Aiko Music, the song is the second preview of an album planned for spring 2027.
By the final chorus the A Class Angel still hasn’t shown. The room had its chance and I’d rather go home horny than wake up beside a man who was disappointing after his pants came off. Aiko makes that decision feel pretty fucking easy. She can keep dancing until she feels like leaving.
