Adrianna Risner’s ‘If He Wanted To He Would’ is Funky, Fierce, and Done Waiting

Ugh. We’ve all been there, right? A few too many drinks in, texting our group chat at 1:17 AM with receipts from yet another guy who “just doesn’t know what he wants.” And no, it’s not complicated. Adrianna Risner’s new track If He Wanted To He Would says it louder, clearer, and way sexier than we ever could — If He Wanted To He Would is the manifesto we didn’t know we needed, wrapped up in funky little synth stabs and a groove that feels like glitter sticking to your collarbones after a night out.

The second this track slides in, it’s already flirting. Soulful, warm bass and retro-slick beats saunter through the speakers like they know they’re hot. Adrianna’s vocals? They don’t beg — they demand. “Flowers on Valentine’s Day, he could / Sending postcards while away, he could” — simple, sharp, and slicing right through the excuses. This isn’t a sad-girl sob in the corner. This is that moment when you look in the mirror while fixing your lip gloss and go, oh yeah, I’m that girl.

And when the chorus hits? Game. Over. “If he wanted to he would” loops and layers like a mantra you chant with your besties while skipping from the club to the Uber at 3 AM, heels in hand, pretending you’re not texting him first. You know the vibes — defiant but a little dirty, sexy in the way knowing your worth always is.

She keeps it cheeky but deadly serious. “Opening doors, he could / Proclaiming your status, he could / Saying sorry when he’s wrong, he could.” Adrianna isn’t pulling punches — she’s making a checklist, and he’s already flunking. The funk-pop bounce underneath it all makes it impossible not to move, though. Like, yeah, I’m heated, but I’m also shaking my ass while I delete his number. Multitasking queen energy.

The genius here? It’s not bitter. It’s breezy. Even when she throws the subtle shade — “It don’t take much to get that far / It won’t be at the end if it ain’t at the start” — she serves it like a smirking bartender sliding you that extra shot “on the house.” We know what she means. If it’s not effortless from the jump, why are we even wasting our mascara?

And oh, Adrianna works the repetition. “He would, he would, he would.” It’s hypnotic, dizzy, intoxicating — like scrolling through old texts and wondering why the bare minimum felt like a prize. But this time, the loop isn’t for him. It’s for us. It’s an affirmation. Each “he would” hits harder, like a sexy little slap back to reality.

By the time we get to the final wave — “He He He He Would” — it’s almost playful. Flirty, even. Like… duh. You’re not dumb. You know he’s not doing it because he doesn’t want to. Adrianna’s just handing you the mic so you can scream it yourself. It’s cathartic. It’s hot. It’s necessary.

This isn’t a cry-in-the-shower track. This is slip-on-your-favorite-mini-and-remind-yourself-you’re-a-bad-bitch music. The kind of song you blast while FaceTiming your girls and plotting which club’s dance floor you’re about to own. Adrianna Risner gets it — and she packaged the truth in a disco-drenched kiss-off that’s endlessly replayable.

So next time you’re stuck in limbo waiting for that “sorry” or “good morning” text? Put If He Wanted To He Would on blast. Turn your phone off. And remember — he would.
