The chrome fantasy goes like this: upgrade everything, feel nothing that can hurt you, glow so hard the room can’t look away. 4ra 4ra sells it hard on ‘CHROMEsoME,’ a piece of cyber-phonk electro-pop that sounds like the inside of your skull during a system overload. The production is wired and kinetic as hell, and it grabs you before you’ve had time to process what’s happening.

4ra 4ra calls herself an audiovisual architect, and that title is doing real work here. ‘CHROMEsoME’ is a single off a full conceptual EP, a project she’s built into an entire visual world around identity, transformation, and survival in a hyper-technological future. This is not a song you put on in the background. She’s designed the whole thing to pull you inside it, music and performance and digital art collapsed into one experience. The EP frames her ongoing mutation narrative, which sounds intense because it is, and ‘CHROMEsoME’ is where that narrative gets its most visceral moment.
“Glowing in the dark, yeah, I’m awesome” lands right at the top, and damn, she means it. The chrome glow-up fantasy is magnetic, built to make you feel untouchable. But 4ra 4ra is too smart to let it stay aspirational. The track fractures mid-flight. “Cold steel, no pain, where’s the soul” is where the mood cracks open, and you feel it. You traded the vulnerability that made you human for something that can’t be hurt, and now you’re standing there wondering what the fuck you actually lost.
“Chromesome” folds “chromosome” into “Chrome so me,” the organic and the synthetic collapsed into one word. Your DNA, your actual biological blueprint, rewritten in metal. The production mirrors it: glitchy and frantic, the kind of sound that feels like a body running too damn hot.

“Too much Chrome, I’m outta control / Why did I do it, to lose my mind / ‘Cuz humans are a lost kind” is the song’s whole thesis cracking open. The armor was supposed to be the solution. Turns out it’s the crisis. “C-R-S-M, no emo, this Chrome’s my defense” reads like a mantra she’s still trying to believe in, and hell, that tension is what makes the track work.
The “powerful but lost minds” refrain is where 4ra 4ra lands, and it’s goddamn unsettling in the best possible way. The power is real and so is the dissociation, and she doesn’t try to resolve that shit. That’s the point. When chrome is all that’s left of you, the glow is still there but something essential walked out.
